The best part of every get-together is the people around you.

That moment when someone tells a story and the whole group bursts out laughing. That’s what STRAFDOP makes room for.

STRAFDOP is a party game for conversations that outlast the fire. For the quiet friend with the best answer, the one with a story for everything, and the people who simply want a good evening together.

One phone gets the game going. Your people make the evening.

We wanted a party game that fits into the conversation. One that doesn’t leave everyone staring at their own screen.

So you share one device. The cards use your names. The phone handles the timer and the score. You do the rest.

STRAFDOP speaks Afrikaans and English, thinks locally and doesn’t take itself too seriously. The best card is still the one that gets your own story going.

There is nothing to print beforehand or ask every guest to download. Make some room around the table, add your names and begin. The best part happens between the people sitting with you.

How to Play
A shared phone being passed between friends at a braai table

Every gathering has its characters.

Some people think fast. Others can tell an entire story with one look. The three game modes give different people a chance to get the table laughing.

3 Rounds

For the quick thinkers and the people who completely forget how words work under pressure. Describe, guess and act while the rules change across three rounds. The clue-giver rotates, so everyone gets a turn at trying to lead the group through five answers.

Braai Roasts

For the big personalities, the convincingly innocent and the friend who can never keep a straight face. Read and perform scenarios, try to make each other crack, and vote when the card calls for it. The humour comes from your performance, with very little typing involved.

The Advice Line

For the people with an opinion on absolutely everything. One player calls in with a problem; another becomes the expert who must try to solve it with terrible advice. Play a character, respond to each other and let the most ordinary problem go wonderfully off the rails.

Or put it all into The Big Mix.

You do not all have to enjoy the same kind of challenge. The Big Mix alternates turns from the three modes, letting the conversation and energy change while the same group keeps playing together.

South African humour for the people around your own braai.

The clues and situations come from a South African world: the things we say, the little dramas we recognise and the stories that always come up around a braai. But you do not have to be a particular kind of person to join in. Your own reactions make the card.

STRAFDOP works for two to sixteen adults. Play in Afrikaans or English and choose Clean or Unfiltered to suit the group. From two people sitting opposite each other to a table full of friends, one shared phone keeps everyone in the same game.

A good evening includes everyone.

The game gives you something to work with. You decide how the evening feels.

Choose your own boundaries.
Choose Clean for clean language, or Unfiltered if the group enjoys ruder humour. If a scenario does not work for you, decline it before the turn starts and get another card. Nobody needs to play a character or topic that makes them uncomfortable.
The points stay in the game.
Penalty points make the result part of the fun; fewer points are better. You choose what goes in your glass. Water, a soft drink or something else does not change who can guess, perform or come up with the funniest answer. Play responsibly and keep it friendly.
Keep the people involved.
Read the card aloud when needed, pass the phone and let the next person have a go. You do not all need to be equally loud or equally quick. The aim is an evening where the quiet people get a turn too, and everyone has something to laugh about.

Less scrolling. More stories.

Try three free turns with your people. If you want to keep playing, the base game is R29 once off, without a subscription. Extra packs are separate. Start small and see which story your first card gets going.
